Further details on individual worksheets:-

Income/Expenses SheetThere is one sheet per month for adding income and expenses.  You simply add the date, select the reason from a drop down list, (categories can be customised to your own requirements, (ie fares, fuel, telephone) and also where the payment will be paid to or from, ie, current or reserve account, petty cash or credit card.

Each sheet shows as a running total of income and expenses for each month.

Annual P&L Sheet

The amounts on this P&L sheet will be automatically updated following any entries made in the monthly sheets. You will be able to clearly see running totals per month and also for the whole year for each category, as well as total income and total expenses per month and for the whole year.

All cells are password protected to prevent accidental deletion of crucial formula.

Minus figures are shown in red.

Self Assessment

The draft Self Assessment Form will be automatically completed by adding all the relevant amounts categories into each category (ie supplies, vehicle costs, which can include fuel, MOT, etc and is multiplied by the % for business use of the vehicle).

The draft form enables you to transpose the figures for completing your own annual HMRC tax return, in either paper format or on-line.

VAT Calculator

The VAT Accounting version, which is included in the purchase, has an annual and quarterly VAT calculator. There is then a clear figure for the total net amount to be paid to HMRC. You can use the figures calculated to complete your VAT returns.

Allowable Expenses

Allowable expenses are the running costs relating to your business, eg office costs, travel costs, stock purchased, costs of your business premises - costs that you pay out in the course of earning business profits.

Non Allowable Expenses

You cannot claim for non-business or personal items, such as entertaining, but would enter the costs on the spreadsheets under the Misc (non-taxable) category, however, the costs will not be added to the draft assessment.
